Decades of hands-on manufacturing knowledge allow us to deliver consistent quality with a service our clients can count on.
Our History
UB Plastics was founded in 1983 by David Cox, who recognised the need for modern plastic alternatives to traditional wooden barrel components used in the brewing industry. Situated in Burton-on-Trent, the brewing capital of the UK, the company began by producing moulded plastic shives, bungs and pegs, quickly gaining a reputation for quality and reliability within the brewing and beverage sector which earned the Staffordshire town a global reputation.
Over the decades, UB Plastics has invested steadily in automation, robotics and in-mould labelling (IML) technology. This commitment to progress has transformed the business from a small specialist into an experienced high-volume injection moulding partner with expertise serving multiple industries, with over 40 years’ experience.
Now operating from a 75,000 Sq ft manufacturing site in Burton upon Trent, we run 23 modern moulding machines, with 8 full automated in-mould labelling (IML) cells, and produce over 100 million components each year.
By investing in automation, sustainable materials and closed-loop solutions to reduce waste, we are committed to a sustainable manufacturing future, a necessity in today’s eco-conscious environment. Our own products are manufactured using high-grade virgin plastic polymers alongside 100% recycled material for certain industries and projects. We support efforts across the industry to reduce single-use materials to secure a sustainable future for UK manufacturing.
Our Machinery & Automation
UB Plastics has continually invested in new technology and automation to support efficient, high-volume manufacturing. Today, we operate 23 modern injection moulding machines ranging from 35 to 220 tonnes, many of which are equipped with full-servo robots to support advanced processes such as in-mould labelling (IML).
This setup enables us to produce over 100 million plastic parts each year, including millions of tamper-evident caps for the brewing and food packaging sectors. Our equipment includes machines from recognised names such as Negri Bossi, Romi, Borshe, Battenfeld and Haitian, supported by ATM and Compact 2T full-servo robots for consistent, automated handling.
